This month has been dominated by readers sending in their
glitch pictures. At least it's taken the pressure off me, and allowed
more time for programming visuals, which is rapidly becoming a very
time-consuming side-project.

This one is from KONEY (http://www.koney.org). Three things to note here:
1. The glitch came about from a fractal generator, and Koney's actual image
he sent me had more detail in the fractal background.
2. I mildly dislike fractals. Therefore, I've reduced
the image to 1-bit, in order to almost completely eradicate the fractal,
whilst keeping the rather nice straight-line glitchy parts!
3. I'm in charge around here!

This is from one of those "special marks" you get on UPS order tracking
labels. I scanned it, and then thresholded the colours to get rid of the
interpolation fringes you get when magnifying the original scan. Or something
like that. Now it could pass for a screenshot from one of those cheapo
Binatone console games from the late 1970s. It would probably be called
something impressive-sounding like Vortex of Doom, only to disappoint
lots of kids when they discover it's just some big pixels and no on-screen
scoring. And the High Scores table is lost when you take the batteries out.

I've joined the KGB. Anyway, enough about me.

Just finished doing my second foray into glitch video-making.
You can all come round later and watch it. Bring a bottle, eh?

This is a heavily-colour-munged version of an
original glitch screenshot sent in by Lost_Bit. (http://lost-bit.tk/)

    Instructions for mechanical Vostok:
Reverse turn the winder a few revolutions until it comes free
from the thread - then wind gently forward until winder starts
to tighten. Do not over wind - guarantee does not cover broken
springs. Pull winder out one stage further to set time.
To set date quickly move hands to 6 o clock, then forward to 12-30,
back to 6 etc. Do not immerse in water.

Uh-oh, today's the day. My code had better not crash or I
won't be best pleased.

The pixels are so bright they hurt my eye/brain combo..

This is another glitch based on a video screenshot from Achim.
I could get used to this - getting other people to source my
glitch material! Anyway, jolly nice it turned out too. It reminds
me of a taxonomy of beetles or bees being displayed in a glass frame
in a museum.

And I've decided to put some effort into studying data visualization.
It looks like a really interesting subject. I know several of my regular
visitors to these shores are into "DV", and I look forward to interesting
conversations when I'm a bit more clued-up on things.

Oo-er, my typewriter ribbon seems to need replacing,
so I'll be orf now.
