GLITCH ART BITSPLITTERS NEW BLEEP 8
THE ARCHES THEATRE, MACHINISTA 2004
Thanks to David Bernard and the Machinista crew for the invitation.
Review by category curator Roman Arefiev:
Glitch art by Tony Scott is based on casual images,
appearing from time to time on the monitor, trying
to find the sense in corrupted datas and wrong
functioning of electronic devices.
It is possible to count Tony Scott the author of all
these artworks, and also quite allowable to count
hardware and software his co-authors.
Glitch’s idea is related to abstract of "mistake",
but this kind of art doesn’t consist in search of mistakes,
but in opposition of "wrongly arising" beauty to pragmatic,
which is erected in a rank of the absolute and not
criticized law of correct and predicted functioning
of electronic devices.
Glitch escapes from the circle of logic and predictability,
making fortuity the basis for creative process.
I wish I knew what that meant.
