This was my second work for the GLI.TC/H 2011 gallery show, and I wanted to show something provocatively simple and sharp. The amount of slippage in the slats, as well as the spacing between the panels, is deliberate and mandated in law.
DSM-IV is the fourth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. And indeed, the number sequence (1, 2, 3, 4) is encoded in the arrangement, and if you join up where these numbers are represented with a continuous line, you get an "X", which represents the 10 years since I got started in the glitch art business, at the time of production. This stuff isn't just thrown together, you know.
