Select an object to wind the tape around. The artist expresses a preference for an object that is NOT technology-related (ie. not a computer, monitor, or A/V equipment etc.). The perimeter (distance all the way around for one turn) should be between 1m and 2m. The height or width available for the turns should also be about 1m. (You need room for more turns if the perimeter is small, and vice-versa.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some ideas for objects to wrap: Wooden frame eg. canvas stretcher or an existing painting. Table top. Door. Open window (getting the art wet is not a problem). Beer barrel. Large plant pot. Air con pipe. Pillar. Pile of bricks. Fish tank. Bike or car wheel. A sculpture (classical Greek nudes preferred). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unstick the taped-down end of the roll, and stick it on the object to secure the first turn. Overlap each turn by 1mm - 3mm over the previous turn. There must be no gaps between the turns. Wind the tape around the object from top-to-bottom (or left-to-right) in neat parallel rows. The tape has some "stretch" in it, so keep it nice and taut and don't let it go slack. TIP: Walk around the object as you wrap it. If there is excess tape after wrapping the object, secure the last turn with some clear sticky tape, or tie a knot in the tape, and let the excess tape dangle artlessly.
